Emergency ‘Everyday Card Kit’

No matter how on top of things you are, there are occasionally those birthdays or other events that sneak up on you, catching you completely by surprise. Knowing this phenomenon all too well, the sympathetic souls at Rohner Press partnered with Mohawk to produce the Emergency “Everyday Card Kit” – an eye-catching box packed with an assortment of 8 fun greeting cards (and envelopes) covering a wide range of situations. ‘Hex’ Board Game

Any time you’re feeling a complete lack of print design inspiration or lamenting that you just don’t have a big enough budget to create something extraordinary, remember what Pauline Capote accomplished with a home inkjet printer, some paper, and a sharp designer’s eye. Challenged by her Packaging class at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco to come up with a board game aimed at designers, Pauline created one right after our own CMYK hearts – “Hex: The Clash of Colors.” Read More.

Toyota Camry Pop-up Gatefold Insert

If you’re a car company, putting your potential customer “in the driver’s seat” virtually is pretty easy these days, using everything from television commercials and online videos to augmented and virtual reality. It is this medium-agnostic attitude that’s resulted in interactive projects such as this amazing example of print design inspiration: a pop-up book that also happens to be a working pinhole camera! Painstakingly developed from scratch by the artist and mass-produced by those wizards of dimensional marketing, Structural Graphics, “This is a Camera” is a colorful celebration of paper-folding precision at its best. Bacardi Speaker Packaging

Nothing gets a party started faster than a well-stocked bar and some great tunes, making Bacardi’s “Real Music Speaker” rum packaging one of the cleverest combos around. That’s right: This box is wired for sound! Designed by our friends at MW Luxury Packaging and Bacardi to hold a bottle of Bacardi’s Carta Negra Superior Black Rum, it features a recycled rigid board substructure wrapped in 100 lb. (157gsm) white art paper and a matte, anti-scratch polypropylene laminate printed CMYK by Best Planner. A slick spot UV gloss varnish makes a number of clever little details pop. This dollop of print design inspiration is ready to be the live of any party. Read More.
