If you’re a high-end brand today, you know that after a sales meeting you have to leave a little bit of your brand behind – something that not only reflects the quality and luxury of your products, but a little bit of your brand’s spirit, too. After getting this truly evocative portfolio for Maui Jim sunglasses in your hands, you’d swear you can feel those cool Hawaiian breezes no matter where in the world you happen to be.
That’s down to the stunning interaction between the gorgeous color reproduction of a basket weave and the sculptured emboss texture that sells you on everything your eye sees. A logo that appears to be weathered by time spent in the ocean seals the deal. And just when you think “That’s it, you’ve sold me – I’m completely buying this beachside illusion,” you turn the portfolio over to be hit with a die-cut seashell closure and tie.
“The design process for the piece was quite intelligent being that it created 5 compartments for housing multiple marketing components,” explains Classic Color’s Jeff Hernandez. “The design represents the brand’s origins and how it all began on the beaches of Maui. This makes for a great success story that every representative can tell and have something in hand that engages the consumer. The duplexing of the stock and multiple compartments…demonstrate extreme excellence in the finishing process.”
With packaging this cool there’s always the risk of outshining the promotional pieces that go inside. But even here we get thrown a curve ball with product cards that are unexpectedly smaller than the holder, prompting us to pay more attention to them than we might otherwise have done.
“Today’s high-end brands acknowledge that after a person-to-person meeting has occurred they must leave something behind that reflects the quality and luxury of the brand that can be referenced or passed on easily,” says Jeff. “Even if you are presenting in a cold climate, this creates a fun-in-the-sun invitation.”
